Salary/Hourly Rate
$65k - $75k (Salary commensurate with experience).
Position Overview
The Paralegal provides specialized support to attorneys handling medical malpractice cases, managing tasks such as organizing case documents, preparing legal pleadings, managing discovery processes, obtaining and reviewing medical records, and assisting in trial preparations.
Responsibilities Of The Paralegal
- Systematically manage and maintain comprehensive case files and legal documents, ensuring meticulous organization and easy accessibility for the legal team.
- Expertly draft and prepare a variety of legal pleadings and forms, adhering to procedural requirements and court standards.
- Oversee the discovery process by efficiently issuing subpoenas, obtaining necessary authorizations, and securing pertinent records to support case development.
- Conduct thorough deposition summaries, distilling key information to aid attorneys in case strategy formulation.
- Analyze and interpret medical and employment records to identify critical details that inform case strategies and legal arguments.
Required Experience/Skills for the Paralegal:
- Medical Malpractice Litigation Experience: A minimum of 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in medical malpractice litigation, demonstrating a solid understanding of case management and legal procedures.
- Research and Writing Proficiency: Exceptional research abilities coupled with advanced writing skills to effectively support case development and documentation.
- Priority and Deadline Management: Proven capability to efficiently manage multiple priorities and adhere to strict deadlines in a dynamic legal environment.
- Microsoft Office Expertise: High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, to facilitate document preparation and data analysis.
- PDF Software Proficiency: Skilled in using PDF software, especially Nuance Power PDF, for document manipulation and management.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Paralegal:
- Relevant Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in a paralegal role is often preferred, demonstrating practical knowledge and skills in legal assistance.
Education Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
