About this Role:

This is your chance to have a critical impact at a dynamic gaming company in the midst of an exciting globalization journey. You'll be joining the Group International Legal Department which oversees legal matters for the NetEase group (ex-China) and coordinates with the legal teams within each division of the group.

We are looking for a talented Labor & Employment Counsel to join our team in supporting the HR function across our group in all aspects with respect to labor and employment law in our locations in North America, APAC and Europe. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our labor & employment legal team, HR, business departments and other legal team members to manage risk and provide employment law advice and counselling.

NetEase operates in multiple countries globally, and this role is primarily responsible for:

• Providing legal advice and guidance to business leaders and HR on a wide range of labor and employment matters, including compliance with applicable laws
• Partnering with HR, business managers and legal teams to drive best practice globally with regards to labor and employment matters across geographies in a complex business environment
• Assisting in implementing and updating Global HR policies and standards and providing advisory and clarification on those policies and standards
• Negotiating and drafting employment contracts, severance agreements, and other related documents
• Assisting in the preparation and management of employment-related litigation, including investigations, depositions, and trial preparation
• Providing advice and counsel on risk mitigation, including performance and reward issues, and employee relations escalations, and coordinating with HR BP's and legal teams at the business unit level
• Advising on workplace investigations and working closely with HR employee relations and internal investigations specialists
• Supporting M&A and investment activity from a labor & compliance perspective
• Assisting with the company's global data privacy and data protection efforts
• Providing training to the wider legal & internal control functions, HR, business partners and executive leadership
• Supervising outside counsel with respect to employment compliance and litigation matters

Qualifications:

• Admitted and licensed attorney in U.S., U.K., Singapore or other common law jurisdiction with 3-6 years practical post-qualification experience working in a well-regarded law firm and/or in-house legal team
• Knowledge of employment laws, regulations and industry best practices across different regions
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the flexibility and cultural sensitivity to connect with colleagues across the globe
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions in complex situations
• High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality in handling sensitive employee and business information
• Comfortable working with a geographically dispersed team
• Proactive and responsive, willing and able to assist with new challenges
• Proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English is preferred.
