Duties

The Associate General Counsel is a legal professional who provides business partners with legal support. Representing the business in the process of collecting outstanding debts from individuals or entities that owe money. While the primary focus is on the recovery of unpaid funds, the Associate General Counsel's duties and responsible will also include:

  • Conducting legal research and advising business partners.
  • Advising and consulting with clients on the best course of action for recovery of unpaid funds. This may involve assessing the legal standing of the debt, the likelihood of success in court, and potential alternatives.
  • Creating legal documents such as demand letters, complaints, and court filings to initiate legal proceedings against debtors.
  • Representing the business in court. This includes presenting the case, arguing legal points, and advocating for the client's interests.
  • Engaging in negotiation with debtors, either directly or through alternative dispute resolution methods, to reach a settlement or repayment agreement.
  • If the court rules in favor of the creditor, the Associate General Counsel may be involved in the enforcement of judgments, such as garnishing wages or placing liens on property.
  • Ensuring that the company adheres to relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Maintaining accurate and thorough documentation of all communications, actions, and legal proceedings.

Requirements

  • Law Degree – Member of the Florida Bar Association
  • At least 2yrs of Experience Practicing Law
  • Familiarity with Construction Law is a Plus
  • Strong understanding of debtor-creditor law, contract law, and relevant legal procedures
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills when dealing with both business partners and debtors
  • Ability to stay informed about changes in laws and regulations

Must be willing to undergo a criminal background check
