Weitz & Luxenberg, one of the nation’s top mass tort and products liability law firm, is seeking a highly organized and proactive Legal Executive Assistant to join our New York City office. This role will support the fast-paced department focused on probate, lien resolution, and personal bankruptcy matters. The ideal candidate will be dedicated, with a strong sense of discretion, and ability to manage substantive legal tasks.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Executive & Legal Support:
- Serve as the right hand to the senior attorney, anticipating needs and ensuring seamless daily operations.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with the utmost professionalism.
- Draft, proofread, manage legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings related to probate, lien resolution, and bankruptcy matters.
- Calendar & Scheduling:
- Manage and maintain a dynamic calendar of court appearances, deadlines, internal meetings, and client appointments.
- Coordinate and confirm hearings, depositions, and case milestones.
- Monitor deadlines and follow up to ensure timely filings and responses.
- Client Communication & Relations:
- Serve as a primary liaison for client contact-ensuring compassionate, efficient, and responsive communication.
- Keep clients informed on case status and respond to inquiries promptly.
- Schedule and prepare for client meetings and ensure follow-up.
- Court & Attorney Coordination:
- Handle schedule and communicate with courts, opposing counsel, and third-party vendors.
- Prepare and file court documents, ensuring compliance with applicable local, state, and federal rules.
- Assist with appearance coordination and remote-in-person hearing logistics.
- Substantive Legal Work & File Management:
- Organize and maintain physical and electronic case files.
- Review case files for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Research and prepare summaries for attorney review as needed.
- Firm Integration & Personal Commitment:

- Bring a proactive, solution-oriented attitude to every aspect of the role.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience;
- Strongly preferred candidates will have 5+ years of legal assistant or paralegal experience, with at least 2 years in probate, lien resolution, or bankruptcy;
- Experience in a personal injury firm setting is a strong plus;
- Exceptional time management, organization, and communication skills;
- Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment;
- Demonstrated discretion, reliability, integrity.
The annual salary range for the position is $65,000 to $75,000.
The referenced salary range is based on the Firm's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
