Tesla is looking for a Senior Counsel to join our Commercial legal team. In this role, you will primarily support Tesla’s supply chain operations on the procurement of electrical and electronic (EE) components, including custom and non-custom processors and other integrated circuits. As needed, you will also assist in the procurement of other goods and services to support our vehicle and energy businesses and company operations. The position will be based in one of Tesla’s offices in Austin, Texas or the Bay Area of California.

What You’ll Do

Manage a high volume and wide range of commercial contracts, including supply agreements, design and development agreements, foundry services agreements, IP licensing agreements, and confidentiality agreements
Provide advice on a wide variety of strategic, regulatory, and transactional matters for Tesla’s supply chain team and other teams
Facilitate resolution of legal disputes, including by drafting and responding to breach of contract claims
Prepare and maintain contract forms to support Tesla’s businesses and areas of operation
Liaise with colleagues worldwide to ensure consistency of contracts and risk allocation across the various Tesla businesses

What You’ll Bring

J.D. with current license to practice in at least one U.S. state or Washington, DC
Minimum of 8 years of practice experience; combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred
Excellent communication skills with a business-level to near native-level fluency in English (verbal and written). Spanish, German, and additional languages are a plus
Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to proactively identify problems, drive projects, make complex cost/benefit assessments, identify pragmatic/creative legal and business solutions, and quickly earn the confidence of your colleagues
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced, challenging environment
Quick and flexible learner with well-honed analytical skills, intellectually curious, open-minded, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity and risk, and excited by dynamic change
High standards, impeccable integrity and ethics, and unquestionable good judgment

Expected Compensation

$172,000 - $318,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
