A leading global motor vehicle company is seeking to engage an experienced Antitrust Counsel to help lead the company's US antitrust legal matters on a full-time (40 hours per week), contract/interim basis for a 4 month term (through September 2025).

This role will provide comprehensive legal advice and support on antitrust matters, encompassing both daily operational issues and special projects. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of U.S. antitrust laws and regulations, demonstrate the ability to work independently with internal clients, and provide strategic guidance to the business. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide legal advice and counsel to internal business clients on a wide range of antitrust matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, distribution agreements, pricing practices, and competitor collaborations.
  • Conduct antitrust risk assessments and due diligence reviews.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on antitrust compliance.
  • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments related to antitrust law.
  • Draft and negotiate agreements that comply with antitrust requirements.
  • Represent the company before regulatory agencies, such as the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
  • Manage and oversee antitrust litigation, if necessary.
  • Collaborate with outside counsel on complex antitrust matters.
  • Develop and implement antitrust compliance policies and procedures.
  • Provide proactive counseling and support to business units to ensure compliance with antitrust laws.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Deep understanding of U.S. antitrust laws, including the Sherman Act, Clayton Act, and Federal Trade Commission Act.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with internal clients.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience (preferably 10+ years) practicing antitrust law in a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal department.
  • A combination of law firm and in-house experience is preferred.
  • Experience with international antitrust law is a plus.

EDUCATION & LICENSING:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to a state bar and eligible to practice law.
  • Member in good standing with the relevant bar association(s).
