Assistant General Counsel/HIPAA Privacy Officer
The Missouri Department of Mental Health is seeking to fill a vacancy for an Assistant General Counsel position that will also serve as the HIPAA Privacy Officer. Options to office at existing DMH Office of General Counsel locations in Kansas City, Jefferson City, or St. Louis, Missouri.
This is a highly responsible position, reporting to the Department General Counsel. The Assistant General Counsel is responsible for a variety of administrative areas including: HIPAA, rulemaking, department operating regulations, and fiscal notes, as well as participation in standing committees. This position works closely with the DMH Security Officer regarding data issues, HIPAA BAAs, and Hi-Tech Certification. In addition, the Assistant General Counsel assists the General Counsel with all legal matters affecting the Department, which includes research, review, and drafting of various documents, contracts, policies and advisory opinions relating to the Department. Periodic travel may be required.
