Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP is seeking a junior associate to join its Finance and Bankruptcy Practice Group in New York.

Sheppard Mullin is a global Am Law 50 full-service law firm with over 1,200 attorneys across 16 offices in North America, Europe, and Asia. The Finance and Bankruptcy practice of Sheppard Mullin has been a key element of the firm's practice since its founding over 90 years ago. As part of a large, broad-based commercial law firm, our bankruptcy team is comprised of attorneys specializing in all facets of corporate special situations, financial restructuring, and creditor’s rights litigation including US and cross-border matters. We bring a team of fully engaged advisors with the legal and practical problem-solving skills necessary to execute the most complex of financial restructurings. The bankruptcy team brings significant expertise to solving complex problems presented by business insolvencies, and works closely with our commercial finance, real estate, corporate, tax, labor and securities attorneys to solve the multi-disciplinary problems presented by insolvencies relating to national and international insolvencies.

Sheppard Mullin offers the collegiality of a small multi-office team with the resources of a major national and international law firm. This is a unique opportunity focused on creditor’s rights and bankruptcy-related litigation as well as restructuring.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of commercial and bankruptcy-related litigation experience.
  • A demonstrated interest in, or exposure to, bankruptcy practice.
  • Trial, motion practice, depositions, and drafting motions such as summary judgement motions, motions to dismiss, and complex discovery motions.
  • Ability to handle multiple and varied projects simultaneously and efficiently; strong interpersonal, analytical, oral communication and writing skills; and an understanding of secured transactions law.
  • Enjoys working in the office as part of various teams.

Education and Admission

  • JD; candidate should also possess impressive academic credentials.
  • Must be admitted to the New York State Bar.

_The salary range for this position is $235,000 - $260,000 _per year. Please note that the foregoing compensation information is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and is provided pursuant to the New York City Salary Transparency Law.
