The Lead, Contract Development is responsible for leading all completion of redlines with regards to bids documents and direct/group purchasing organization off template agreements for Healthcare Systems and Technologies. The Lead, Contract Development provides analytical and strategic support to the Commercial Operations functions, and works collaboratively with various other functions including Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Corporate Legal teams. The role involves effectively redlining contract terms related to the assigned contract portfolio; providing guidance and recommendations on contract terms to business teams; working directly with external parties to identify alternative contract provisions to resolve differences between Baxter and external parties. The Lead consistently exercises independent judgment to identify potential legal and/or business-related issues, including concerns related to operational risk, and seeks guidance where appropriate. Responsibilities include providing contract support to assist in processing direct, distribution, and/or group purchasing organization off template agreements from initial drafting, redlines, to finalization; communicating finalized contracts/amendments for contract implementation/maintenance; providing accurate and efficient support to customers and stakeholders while creating profitable and quality agreements for Baxter; collaborating with various levels of the organization including Legal, Sales, Finance, and both internal and external business associates; participating in process innovation to develop/identify procedural gaps, drive improvements, efficiencies, achieve results and enhance customer relationships; communicating with Sales to understand customer needs and business opportunities; contributing to and/or creating standard operating procedures and maintaining those procedures. The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience in a related field; paralegal experience preferred; healthcare experience a plus. Experience in redlining commercial agreements including third party contracts is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact across all levels of the organization are critical. The candidate must be a self-starter, able to work proficiently with limited supervision, have excellent organization skills, focus on customer satisfaction, provide timely and accurate results, prioritize multiple tasks, manage time efficiently, and have attention to detail. Proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
