About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant with (1-3 years of experience) to join our Collections/Legal team. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional interested in starting a legal career within the financial services industry. You’ll gain hands-on experience supporting legal operations, managing documentation, and working closely with attorneys and collections professionals.

Responsibilities

• Draft and prepare basic legal correspondence, demand letters, and court forms under attorney supervision.
• Assist with mailing of various legal documents and correspondence.
• Organize, scan, and file legal and case-related documents in internal systems and databases.
• Track litigation timelines, court dates, and response deadlines to ensure timely action.
• Assist with processing service of process, court filings, and legal notifications.
• Communicate with courts, process servers, outside counsel and third-parties to coordinate filings and service updates and following up on outstanding requests.
• Conduct basic legal and factual research using internal databases and public records.
• Provide general administrative support, including calendar management, meeting coordination, and document formatting.
• Collaborate with internal departments such as Compliance, Risk, and Collections to gather documentation or respond to inquiries.
• Assist in preparing reports on legal activity, litigation status, and collection metrics.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive customer and case information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in legal studies, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Internship or administrative experience in a legal, compliance, or collections setting preferred (not required).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and time-management skills.
• Ability to effectively function in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with Box, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, and legal or case management software is a plus.
• Eagerness to learn, grow, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
• Interest in financial services, debt recovery, or litigation support is a plus.
