Primary Purpose

Under the direction of SDG&E’s Litigation attorney team, carry out investigations, preparation of pleadings, motions, discovery, mediation and trial preparation for multiple legal cases, including legal research and writing assignments as required. Note, this position is a limited-term contract with an initial 1½ year period and optional 1-year extension.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conducts legal research on assigned points of procedural and substantive law.
  • Prepares preliminary drafts or briefs, arguments, affidavits, declaration, discovery, and various legal documents as directed; maintains related document files as necessary for the position; ability to take and defend some depositions.
  • Prepares cases for depositions, mediations and trial at the direction and supervision of an experienced attorney.
  • If admitted to the California Bar, represent the Company before courts at hearings under the guidance and supervision of an experienced attorney.
  • Uses computerized databases in the execution of legal research assignments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Qualifications

Hybrid Schedule:

  • Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow the employee to work onsite three days per week and remotely on the remaining workdays.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree From a recognized college or university.
  • JD (Juris Doctor) Must have satisfactorily graduated from an ABA credited law school.
  • 0-3 Experience as an Attorney.
  • Proficient in Lexis and Westlaw.
  • Must have passed the California bar exams.
