Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, a leading national law firm, seeks an Attorney with 2+ years of experience to support our Consumer Financial Services Regulatory & Compliance practice in our Chicago office.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a collaborative team, advising on regulatory compliance issues and representing clients in investigations and enforcement matters.

The ideal candidate will have some exposure to consumer protection or consumer financial services laws, such as the Illinois Consumer Fraud Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and Unfair, Deceptive, and Abusive Practices (UDAAP). Prior government experience at a federal or state consumer regulatory or enforcement agency is a plus. The ability to interact with clients and government regulators is essential.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be admitted to the Illinois bar in good standing.
  • 2+ years of regulatory compliance counseling or investigation and enforcement experience preferred
  • Prior work experience in some capacity is preferred
  • Knowledge of consumer protection or consumer financial services laws
  • Ability to draft opinions, legal memoranda, and compliance advice clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills are essential.
