Description

Lido Advisors, LLC is a dynamic and rapidly expanding wealth management firm with approximately $30 billion of assets under management and more than 30 offices across the country. Lido is seeking a seasoned General Counsel to join its growing Legal team. As General Counsel, you will manage a growing team of legal professionals and be responsible for Lido’s day-to-day legal portfolio including, but not limited to, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, regulatory, employee, litigation, among other matters. You will report to the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer and will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer, President, and other members of the senior management team. The ideal candidate can act quickly and decisively with less than perfect information and be comfortable with the intersection of decision-making in the business, legal, and regulatory context. Lido will look to an established track record of excellence, including experience in in-house, law firm settings, and government settings, that showcases a broad base of experience and optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities

 

  • Understand that you and the General Counsel role is the exemplar of leadership, smarts, and collegiality for a creative, entrepreneurial firm with a mandate to become the world’s premier financial services and wealth advisory firm
  • Manage, mentor, and coach our growing team of legal professionals to meet and surpass the challenges of our growing firm
  • Oversee internal and external resources to effectively and expeditiously address and resolve controversy
  • Identify and effectively gauge risk and provide advice and guidance across a complicated enterprise with multiple businesses – advisory, broker dealer, insurance, tax, accounting, among others
  • Prioritize an ever-changing stack of projects to effectively facilitate the firm’s execution of its strategic business plan
  • Experience and comfort in decision-making that straddles multiple disciplines that while founded on legal advice will inevitably involve the business and its direction
  • Vision and ability to contribute to Lido’s overall culture

Requirements

 

  • Juris doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • California Bar membership that is active and in good standing, or eligible to practice as California Registered in-house counsel
  • 15+ years of practicing law, preferably at a law firm, financial institution, government agency, regulator and/or self-regulatory organization, with securities industry experience
  • Expertise in the legal and regulatory regime applicable to an SEC registered investment adviser
  • Experience in mergers, acquisitions, and recruiting and hiring in the investment adviser industry
  • Broad-based experience in handling legal matters involving, among other areas, contracts, leasing, insurance, and employees.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience
  • Creativity, collegiality, a growth mindset, and a sense of humor are essential

Location: Applicants are expected to work onsite in our Los Angeles office in accordance with Lido’s hybrid working policy

Compensation Range

The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The range below is an estimate and may be modified in the future. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $275,000 to $325,000 together with a discretionary bonus, potential participation in Lido’s executive incentive equity program, and a comprehensive benefits program.
