Attorney (Contract)

_Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft.

_ Summary

This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a high-volume U.S. business immigration practice, supporting critical operations that enable global workforce mobility. The successful candidate will play an integral role in reviewing non-immigrant and immigrant visa filings, ensuring legal compliance, and maintaining the integrity of case preparation programs. This role requires applying immigration law expertise to support daily workflow targets while training administrative staff, conducting legal reviews, and addressing complex compliance matters including I-9 completion and E-Verify issues. The position demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where quality and efficiency are paramount. This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional to gain comprehensive experience in business immigration operations while contributing to process improvements that enhance both legal quality and employee experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Review non-immigrant and immigrant visa petition filings for legal accuracy and compliance
  • Apply U.S. immigration legal knowledge to ensure daily workflow targets are met and maintain case preparation program integrity
  • Train administrative staff on USCIS filings, document processing, and PERM job postings
  • Review work product from administrative team members to ensure legal accuracy and quality standards
  • Conduct remote and onsite legal reviews of immigration filings
  • Address legal questions related to I-9 completion and E-Verify processes
  • Support resolution of complex E-Verify issues
  • Train and monitor administrative staff who support I-9 reverification processes
  • Assist managers with understanding PERM requirements and obligations during applicant review
  • Respond to emails from visa-dependent employees regarding visa and green card eligibility, travel, and maintenance of status
  • Assist with root cause analysis and resolution for legal and operational issues
  • Identify and propose legal process improvement ideas to increase quality, streamline workflow, and build operational resiliency

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of immigration law experience (business immigration preferred, but family-based immigration experience acceptable)
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active admission to a state bar
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration law and procedures
  • Experience with high-volume legal operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Training and mentoring abilities
  • Familiarity with Microsoft tools
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills

Additional Details

  • Location: Redmond WA, (Onsite)
  • Duration: 7 months
  • Pay Range*: $42 - $47.50 per hour
  • Weekly Schedule: 40 hours
  • Job Status: Non-Exempt
