The Opportunity

Teamworks is scaling fast, and we’re looking for a sharp, business-minded legal partner to help us do it right. As Associate General Counsel, you’ll work closely with our General Counsel to build a best-in-class legal function that moves at the speed of the business. You’ll own our commercial contracting engine across customers, vendors, and partners, while also playing a key role in high-impact work including M&A, financing, and corporate governance. You’ll be embedded with sales, finance, and executive leadership, providing pragmatic, solutions-oriented counsel that protects the company while keeping deals moving. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, think strategically, and take pride in enabling growth rather than slowing it down, this role offers the chance to make a real impact at one of the fastest-growing companies in sports tech.

What You'll Do

Commercial/Ops:

  • Increase velocity in sales processes through efficient, business-first SaaS contract review and negotiation
  • Own day-to-day legal operations, including customer, vendor, and partner contracting
  • Build and scale the legal operations function around existing deal desk capacity

Transactional:

  • Support M&A transactions and equity/debt financing deals—negotiating definitive agreements, managing diligence, and closing transactions
  • Analyze investment documents and credit facilities, providing practical recommendations that balance risk and business objectives

Other:

  • Develop expertise on board governance, stockholder relations, and lender matters, serving as a strategic advisor to leadership
  • Provide strategic advice and manage outside counsel on litigation, employment matters, and corporate governance issues as they arise

What You'll Bring

Must-haves

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (NC preferred or willingness to obtain)
  • 5+ years of law firm experience in corporate matters (e.g., M&A, corporate finance, venture capital, board governance)
  • Proven expertise relevant to B2B SaaS commercial contracting
  • Strong business judgment with the ability to balance legal risk against commercial processes and growth priorities
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills; comfortable partnering with sales, finance, operations, and executive stakeholders
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts for variant business audiences

Nice-to-haves

  • In-house legal experience at a high-growth technology company, SaaS business, or venture-backed startup
  • Background in venture capital, private equity, or emerging company legal work
  • Experience supporting corporate development initiatives, including diligence and transaction documentation
  • Familiarity with board procedures, stockholder matters, and investor relations
  • Exposure to corporate governance, compliance programs, or risk management frameworks
