Posted Jan 05 A leading UI/design company is seeking an experienced privacy counsel to assist the team on a full-time (40 hours per week), contract basis for an initial 3 month term.
Title: Privacy Counsel (Secondment) Experience: 7+ Years Location: Remote (United States) Hours: 40 Hours / Week Duration: 8 Months Pay Rate: $90 - $100 / hr
Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) from both the customer and supplier perspectives, ensuring all agreements are aligned with company policies and legal requirements.
- Create, update, and maintain comprehensive privacy compliance documentation, including privacy policies, intra-group data transfer agreements, and data use policies, to support organizational adherence to privacy laws.
- Ensure the company's compliance with global privacy regulations, with a particular focus on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), while staying informed about changes in privacy laws worldwide.
- Provide expert advice on privacy-related aspects of sales processes, including the management of consent and data subject rights, to support business objectives and customer trust.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, IT, and sales, to integrate privacy considerations into business strategies and operations.
- Conduct privacy impact assessments and provide guidance on mitigating privacy risks associated with new products, services, and technologies.
- Develop and deliver training sessions and materials to educate employees on privacy best practices and compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in drafting DPAs and other privacy compliance documents, with a proven track record of successful negotiations.
- In-depth knowledge of GDPR and CCPA, with the ability to interpret and apply these regulations to various business scenarios. Experience with privacy laws in additional jurisdictions is a strong advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in drafting stakeholder or customer-facing enablement materials to facilitate understanding and compliance with privacy requirements.
- Familiarity with sales processes and the ability to ensure privacy compliance within sales and marketing activities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing privacy-related challenges.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent legal qualification, with a license to practice law in the United States.
