Product Counsel (Youth, Privacy, AI) - 10 month contract
We are looking for a Product Counsel with expertise in youth, privacy, and AI regulations to support a large technology company. This is a 10 month contract, and is fully remote.
Scope of Work
Title: Product Counsel (contract) Experience: 5+ Years Location: Remote (United States) Hours: 40 Hours / Week Duration: 10 Months Pay Rate: $100 - $120 / hr ($200,000 - $220,000 annualized) Benefits: Vision, medical, dental, 401k
Core Responsibilities
- Reg readiness process interpretation
- Take newly enacted laws (youth, privacy, AI domains) and translate provisions into plain English
- Example: California AB56 social media warning labels law
- Interpretations become official guidance for downstream teams
- Ongoing consultation support
- Answer questions about interpretations from product/legal teams
- Participate in compliance strategy discussions
- Provide context on product implementation options
Required Experience
- Licensed attorney (bar admission required)
- Mid-level experience preferred over junior
- COPPA experience helpful but not essential
- General youth regulation familiarity beneficial
- Will focus primarily on youth law interpretations
- Ability to balance legal defensibility with product practicality
Key Skills Needed
- Legal interpretation with business context awareness
- Stakeholder communication with non-lawyers
- Product strategy input capability
- Accountability for interpretation decisions across complex laws (20-30 provisions typical)
