DEFINITION: To provide professional legal counsel to the Director of Labor & Employee Relations and staff on human resource matters.

Qualifications And Requirements
- Admission to practice law in the State of New Jersey.
- Proficiency with legal research and writing
- Five or more years of experience in the practice of law, specifically with providing legal guidance on human resource issues and workplace investigations.
- Strong understanding of federal and state labor and employment laws and HR issues, including pay equity, employee privacy, Affirmative Action and EEO investigations, employee recruitment/hiring/onboarding, progressive discipline and terminations, leaves of absence (FMLA, NJ FLA, Military Leaves, etc.), workplace accommodations, Title VII, CEPA, NJ LAD.
- Experience with the New Jersey Civil Service Commission Rules and Regulations.
- Working knowledge of federal and state laws applicable to school districts in New Jersey.
Basic Functions And Responsibilities
- Renders oral and written legal advice and guidance on human resource issues and workplace investigations to the Director of Labor & Employee Relations and staff.
- Prepares formal legal memoranda and opinions, briefs, and legal correspondence for signature by the Director of Labor & Employee Relations.
REPORTS TO: Director of Labor & Employee Relations
SALARY EMPLOYMENT PERIOD AND UNION AFFILIATION
- Salary: Hourly compensation will be commensurate with education and
legal experience.
- Employment Period: Twelve Month, approximately 10-15 hours per week.
- Union Affiliation: Unaffiliated
