ECS is an employee-owned engineering consulting firm supporting commercial, residential, and public sector projects throughout Florida. Due to continued growth and increasing inspection demand, we are hiring a Building and Code Compliance Project Manager for our Fort Myers office. This role focuses on performing building inspections, verifying code compliance, and supporting projects from permitting through final approval.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform third party electrical, mechanical, architectural, structural, plumbing, and fire safety building inspections in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal codes
  • Inspect structural, architectural, and life safety components for compliance with approved plans
  • Perform inspections of foundations, concrete slabs, framing, roofing and related construction activity
  • Perform plan reviews and determine if the permitted design plans may require revisions and make recommendations to the contractors, engineers and/or architect
  • Document inspection results clearly and accurately using required reporting systems
  • Coordinate directly with contractors, developers, design professionals, and municipal staff
  • Maintain inspection schedules and respond to field requests in a timely manner
  • Support permitting, re-inspections, and final approvals as required

Qualifications:

  • 1-2+ years of experience in code compliance inspection of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems
  • NCP CCI commercial certification in mechanical, electrical or plumbing required
  • Florida Building Inspector or Plans Examiner certification required
  • ICC certifications in building, structural, or related disciplines
  • Working knowledge of Florida Building Code and local jurisdiction requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Experience working with municipalities or third-party inspection firms
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to perform on-site inspections
