Privacy Attorney Full-Time | Temporary (4–6 Months) | Contract Role Location: Remote (EST or CST Preferred)

We are seeking an experienced Privacy Attorney to join our team on a full-time, temporary basis for a 4–6-month engagement. This role is ideal for a mid- to senior-level attorney with strong data privacy expertise who thrives in fast-paced environments and can independently manage contract negotiations and escalated privacy matters.

Position Overview The Privacy Attorney will support the legal and business teams by leading privacy-related contract negotiations and advising on complex, escalated privacy and data protection questions. This role requires a practical, business-oriented mindset and the ability to provide clear, risk-balanced guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead negotiation of privacy and data protection terms in commercial agreements (e.g., DPAs, MSAs, SaaS agreements, vendor agreements).
  • Review and draft data processing agreements, SCCs, and related documentation.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on escalated privacy and data protection matters.
  • Provide guidance on compliance with applicable privacy laws and regulations (e.g., U.S. state privacy laws, GDPR, and other global frameworks as applicable).
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Security, Procurement, and Compliance teams.
  • Support incident response and risk assessments as needed.
  • Develop and refine privacy guidance, templates, and internal processes.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
  • 4–8+ years of relevant experience, preferably in privacy, data protection, and technology transactions.
  • Experience negotiating complex commercial agreements with privacy components.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. privacy laws and familiarity with global data protection frameworks.
  • Ability to manage high-volume contract workflows independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in a technology company or working with SaaS/technology clients is preferred.

Preferred

  • CIPP/US, or similar privacy certification.
  • Prior in-house experience.
  • Experience advising on international data transfers.

Engagement Details

  • Full-time contract role (40 hours/week).
  • Duration: 4–6 months.
  • Immediate start preferred.
  • Competitive hourly or annualized contract rate, commensurate with experience.
