Position Summary
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Counsel to join our Legal & Compliance team. This role is ideal for a mid-level attorney with at least 4 years of experience in the renewable energy sector. The successful candidate will take a lead role in negotiating and drafting a wide range of commercial and project-related agreements, and will provide strategic legal support across the company’s operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the negotiation and drafting of complex commercial and project-related agreements including: real estate and land control contracts, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts, Equipment supply agreements, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Operations & Maintenance (O&M) agreements, Asset Management Agreements (AMAs), interconnection documents, and joint development agreements.
- Provide legal support for M&A transactions, including structuring, drafting and negotiating transaction documents, managing due diligence processes, and coordinating with external counsel and internal stakeholders.
- Support project financing transactions and tax equity or preferred equity investments, including review and negotiation of finance-related documentation and preparation of ancillary documents such as resolutions, certificates, consents and waivers.
- Advise internal teams on legal risks and mitigation strategies across the project lifecycle.
- Ability to effectively manage and coordinate external counsel to ensure cost efficiency, quality of work, and alignment with company objectives.
- Mentor and supervise junior legal team members, including paralegals.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant legal experience, ideally in Big Law with a focus on renewable
- energy, or project finance. Additional in-house experience with development of utility-scale solar, storage, and wind projects will be a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in negotiating and drafting complex commercial agreements.
- Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape in the renewable energy sector.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment, being able to influence senior stakeholder

- Total compensation package dependent upon a number of factors, including candidate’s professional experience, candidate’s skills, position’s seniority level, department’s hiring budget, and position’s location.
- The salary range for this role is $220,000 to $240,000
