We are seeking an entry level Litigation Paralegal in our Troy, MI office to join its team. The primary responsibility of this position is to support the attorneys and legal professionals in trials, depositions, evidentiary hearings and discovery using litigation support tools and processes in delivering client services.
Duties:
- Support attorneys, legal personnel and project managers in all facets of litigation, including trials and appeals through the use of litigation support tools and processes throughout the discovery process and trial
- Intake and analyze client data to determine is usability and relevance
- Maintain all databases, setup and configure user accounts
- Maintain document and transcript databases in selected software applications
- Load and verify data
- Facilitate data exchanges with clients and vendors through portable media, file transfer sites, etc.
- Consult with attorneys and clients to map and evaluate client data systems
- Assist with the development and evaluation of litigation hold and document collection procedures
- Facilitate communications between attorneys and technical vendors
- Monitor vendors’ work and provide attorneys with regular status reports
- Draft correspondences, Discovery, Discovery responses, summaries of productions, witness interviews
- Provide various document review, case management, and trial presentation products support
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Minimum of a four-year degree in Political Science or related field
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office applications
- General knowledge of electronic discovery processes and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the willingness and ability to meet with and present to clients and the ability to reduce complicated technological concepts to layman’s terms
- Ability to work effectively with others under short deadlines in high pressure situations.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment within broad parameters as determined by the attorney’s management the matters.
- Manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
