Job Description Summary

The Manager of Supplier Programs and Compliance provides technical support and leadership in areas of Lamb Weston Global Supplier Programs. Manages Supplier Compliance Programs to ensure suppliers of direct inputs and packaging materials meet applicable food safety, quality, authenticity and regulatory guidelines. Provides leadership to Sr. Food Safety Specialist and Food Safety Compliance Specialist to uphold compliance through site visits and audits and supplier documentation compliance. Works cross-functionally with Microbiology, Toxicology, FSQ Ops, Contract Manufacturing (CoMan), Innovation, Procurement, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs and Lamb Weston facilities to serve as a technical resource and ensure suppliers, ingredients, and facilities comply with Regulatory and Lamb Weston Supplier Policies and Procedures.

Job Description

  • Manage Lamb Weston ingredient and packaging material suppliers through procedures and policies focusing on compliance with food safety, quality, authenticity, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and lead Sr. Food Safety Specialist and Food Safety Compliance Specialist in activities around maintenance of supplier programs and measurement of supplier performance.
  • Develop and maintain procedures specific to Lamb Weston Supplier Compliance for Lamb Weston Plants and Procurement from a global perspective.
  • Provide training to Lamb Weston Plants on Supplier Compliance procedures, specification system and TraceGains supplier management system.
  • Conduct Supplier Compliance risk assessment and ingredient hazard analysis activities.
  • Collaboration with cross functional groups (Lamb Weston Plants, Procurement, Innovation, Regulatory Affairs, Project Management, etc.) to ensure Supplier Compliance Programs meet regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Manage Lamb Weston Supplier Compliance audit program including supporting domestic and international audits. Manage contracted audit agency relationship.
  • Oversee Lamb Weston CoMan Ingredient Supplier approval and supplier documentation management
  • Manage scheduling and conducting Lamb Weston CoMan audits and audit documentation
  • Ensure Lamb Weston manufacturing plant compliance with Supplier Compliance procedures through audits and site visits.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers regarding Lamb Weston expectations.
  • Liaison with Data Management Team Innovation and Procurement on new ingredient approvals and developing strong cohesive supplier relationships.
  • Champion food safety culture by communicating food safety related decisions and viewpoints throughout the organization and to suppliers.
  • Maintain a knowledge and understanding of Lamb Weston Internal Audits for cross functional capabilities for auditing.

Scope

  • Supplier program compliance, supplier audit compliance, Lamb Weston audit compliance for Supplier Approval Programs and Contract Manufacturers.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of B.S. in food and nutrition, food science, or related field of study
  • Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) certification required
  • Food Defense Qualified Individual (FDQI) certification preferred

Skills And Experience

  • 5 years related experience in a food safety and/or regulatory setting required.
  • Proven experience with supplier management and facility auditing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organized, diligent, detail oriented and independent work ethic strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to work successfully within a team/partnership or matrix environment (and as an individual contributor when needed) with a high degree of professionalism and competence.
  • Excellent PC skills, including Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel. Experience with document management highly preferred.

Physical Environment/Demands

  • Some travel may be required (15% of time)
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of normal workday
  • Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
  • Valid Driver’s License and driving record that meets Lamb Weston Driving Standards
  • Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Freezer Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Plant Operation
  • May have to sample food while evaluating Lamb Weston products
