Posted Mar 19 Our major financial services client is seeking an experienced Regulatory Lawyer. This person will be responsible for broad range of regulatory compliance matters including consumer complaints, marketing material review, and managing required disclosures.
We are actively seeking a Regulatory Lawyer located anywhere in the United States with the following qualifications:
- JD Degree from an accredited institution.
- Active bar license in good standing in the state in which you currently reside.
- 10+ years of legal experience, with demonstrated experience in the banking and/or mortgage lending space.
- Experience advising on consumer complaints, regulatory implications, and drafting formal responses to regulators or oversight bodies.
- Ability to review marketing materials within a highly regulated financial services environment.
- Epiq Counsel partners with industry-leading clients in support of their sophisticated interim talent needs. Must be interested in practicing in an alternative, fixed-term legal services model.
Support our financial services client on the following:
- Serve as lead legal counsel for day‑to‑day operational matters, advising business stakeholders on regulatory risk, litigation strategy, and compliance considerations.
- Provide regulatory and compliance guidance related to mortgage origination and servicing, including TILA, RESPA, TRID, fair lending, marketing, and privacy laws.
- Manage licensing and regulatory filings through the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS), ensuring compliance with the SAFE Act and responding to state regulatory inquiries.
- Lead regulatory examinations and act as a primary liaison with regulators, preparing responses and driving remediation efforts to strengthen enterprise‑wide compliance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial agreements, including non‑disclosure agreements, servicing agreements, statements of work, amendments, and addenda in support of financial services and mortgage initiatives.
- Manage a broad portfolio of civil litigation, subpoenas, and title claims, including factual investigations, early case assessments, settlement strategy, and oversight of outside counsel to ensure cost‑effective outcomes.
- Oversee pre‑litigation investigations and high‑risk claims, advising senior leadership on risk exposure and mitigation strategies.
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of business lines and products, revising policies, procedures, and contractual terms to enhance risk controls and support expansion initiatives.
