How You Will Make An Impact

As the General Counsel, you will lead global legal, regulatory, and compliance activities, significantly enhancing company valuation for exit. You will serve as a strategic senior counselor to the CEO and executive suite on M&A, corporate finance, and intellectual property.

You are a commercially focused, creative partner who anticipates risks and opportunities, specifically regarding the evolving global data privacy landscape (serving as Chief Privacy Officer). We expect you to champion innovation within the legal function by applying creative problem-solving and leveraging emerging technologies, including AI, for maximum efficiency and impact.

Primary Accountabilities

 

  • Executive Leadership & Strategic Advisory: Serve as a senior counselor to the CEO and a trusted advisor to the executive and sales leadership teams. Global Legal Oversight: Lead all legal activities globally, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulation while balancing commercial focus with risk management.
  • Data Privacy Leadership: Serve as the company’s Chief Privacy Officer, developing a deep understanding of the privacy environment in which we operate, to ensure value delivery remains compliant.
  • Outside Counsel Management: Identify and manage specialized outside counsel to maximize value and minimize costs, bringing work in-house whenever reasonable.
  • Functional Innovation: Drive efficiency by applying creative problem-solving and leaning into emerging technologies, including AI.
  • Maximizing Company Value for Exit: Partner with the executive team to grow revenue and earnings while mitigating legal risks to valuation multiples; work with bankers, investors and other outside advisors to run a clean and efficient sale process.

  • Organization & Prioritization: Ability to oversee a high volume of tasks, prioritize time-sensitive items, and create scalable, fail-proof systems.
  • Data Orientation: Ability to use data and analytics to inform key decisions and leverage KPIs to track progress.
  • Adaptability & Resilience: Comfortable as a change champion in a scaling business; remains positive in the face of adversity and navigates rejection effectively.
  • Communication & Collaboration: A proactive, personable collaborator with high EQ who can effectively leverage multiple communication channels.
  • Strategic Thinking: A critical thinker with a creative approach to both simple and complex problems.
  • Demonstrated "Ideal Team Player" attributes: being Hungry (accountable and outcomes-oriented), Humble (collaborative and coachable), and People Smart (skilled at conflict management and communication).

Experience And Education

 

  • Required Experience: Previous experience managing a global legal function and direct experience with M&A transactions or sale processes.
  • Preferred Experience: Prior private equity experience and deep expertise in data privacy are highly preferred.
  • Advanced Law degree or J.D. degree
