We are currently seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our dynamic Insurance litigation team. This role is a crucial part of our legal department, providing comprehensive support to our attorneys in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in litigation support in California state and federal courts and a passion for detail-oriented work.
Essential Job Functions
- Assisting attorneys in the preparation of discovery documents, pleadings, motions, and briefs, including cite-checking of briefs.
- Preparing and coordinating service of deposition subpoenas and business record subpoenas, and following up to ensure documents are produced.
- Reviewing and summarizing medical records, depositions, and other case-related documents.
- Coordinating and managing timelines for various cases, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Organizing and maintaining case files, including managing electronic databases and physical records.
- Assisting with trial preparation, including the creation of exhibits, witness preparation, and coordination of logistics.
- Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and experts as necessary.
- Providing administrative support to attorneys, including scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, and drafting correspondence.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Fluent knowledge of California state and federal civil procedure rules and rules of court, particularly as pertaining to discovery.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work successfully with multiple team members, interacting with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Competent to handle a variety of activities with attention to detail and quality, with the ability to follow through and follow up, and adapt to quickly meet changing deadlines and priorities.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to complete multiple tasks and a high volume of work on short deadlines and follow through on assigned tasks with limited supervision.
- Retain a high level of flexibility and resourceful problem solving.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
Educational And Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma required
- Paralegal Certificate required
- Prior litigation experience required
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Ability to work extended hours when necessary.
