Summary

The candidate will be responsible for administrative case management and support of the Litigation Practice Group.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist attorneys with state and federal trials, including matters held both within and outside the State of South Carolina
  • Support the defense of complex product liability cases involving vehicle tires, consumer products, and industrial equipment
  • Docket and track deadlines in compliance with judicial and procedural requirements
  • Prepare and file pleadings with state and federal courts, including arbitration forums
  • Coordinate with national discovery counsel on large-scale discovery matters
  • Draft and serve factual discovery responses using standardized discovery templates
  • Maintain discovery trackers and logs
  • Assist with and manage document productions, summaries, and analyses
  • Assist attorneys in preparing company representatives and expert witnesses for depositions and trial testimony
  • Interview witnesses and summarize testimony and productions
  • Prepare factual case evaluations for trial strategy and settlement discussions
  • Assist in the preparation of exhibit lists, impeachment materials, and demonstrative exhibits.
  • Coordination with litigation technology vendors for trial support
  • Compile and organize electronic and physical trial exhibits

Necessary Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work successfully with multiple team members, interacting with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Competent to handle a variety of activities with attention to detail and quality, with the ability to follow through and follow up, and adapt to quickly meet changing deadlines and priorities.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks and a high volume of work on short deadlines and follow through on assigned tasks with limited supervision.
  • Retain a high level of flexibility and resourceful problem solving.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.

Educational And Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Paralegal associates degree or other relevant certification preferred
  • Prior Paralegal experience required
  • Prior employment law experience preferred

Work Environment And Physical Demands

  • In office position
  • Ability to work extended hours when necessary.
  • Normal office environment; no unusual physical demands.
