With approximately 300 lawyers across a network of 15 offices, we provide clients with proactive, solution-oriented business and litigation counsel. We are seeking an experienced Tax and Estates Paralegal for our Pittsburgh, PA office.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Preparation of legal documents such as tax return preparation, including individual income tax, fiduciary income tax, estate tax, inheritance tax and gift tax.
- Maintaining and filing corporate records
- Organization and management of documents
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Skills/Abilities
- Experience with estates and trust administration software (Lackner knowledge is a plus)
- Experience with tax preparation software
- Knowledge of basic Orphan’s Court rules and procedures
- Knowledge of Probate Process and Probate Code
- Solid understanding of Pennsylvania estate and trust law
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to function well in a high paced environment
- Knowledge of legal terminology and U.S legal system
- Aptitude for learning new applications, systems and processes
- Proficient with Microsoft Office365
- Proficient with document management systems, iManage preferred
Education and Experience:
- High school degree or equivalent required; college degree or Paralegal Certification from an ABA accredited program preferred, or a combination of education and/or experience
- Minimum five years substantive experience as an Estates and Trusts paralegal/ in a law firm setting __
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
- Must be able to stand, walk, carry, push, pull, reach, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, grasp, and kneel
