Position Summary

This Paralegal, Trademark and Corporate position is a critical support role in a small, dynamic legal department that supports the global business of SINGER®, HUSQVARNA® VIKING® and PFAFF® sewing machines and sewing related products. The Paralegal, Trademark and Corporate position is the primary point of contact for routine trademark matters and maintenance of the global portfolio, in addition to supporting corporate governance, legal invoicing, and administrative support for the department.

Responsibilities

Support IP Counsel in the maintenance of global trademark portfolio

  • Conduct global searches for trademark clearance
  • Assist with investigation of third-party use of marks
  • Prepare and file trademark applications and post-registration forms
  • Prepare and send instructions to foreign associates regarding foreign trademark matters
  • Prepare Powers of Attorney and be able to handle legalization and apostille processes
  • Prepare routine cease and desist letters in conjunction with IP Counsel
  • Prepare charts and reports outlining the status of IP matters and brand portfolio
  • Communicate with internal clients to obtain evidence and facts supporting use of the company’s brands
  • Manage daily trademark docket and coordinate responses to deadlines with IP Counsel
  • Perform trademark docketing and report compilation in AltLegal
  • Maintain paper and electronic files of trademark correspondence and certificates
  • Research and assist IP Counsel with trademark assignments and name/address change recordals impacting trademark owners

Provide general corporate and administrative support

  • Assist in reviewing, coding, and processing invoices with A/P.
  • Support counsel with maintenance of Boards, including officer changes and legal entity consolidation.
  • Maintain and update corporate entity charts.
  • Notarize documents and work with outside services/agents to apostille and legalize documents in various countries to support corporate and commercial projects.
  • Work with local country agents to get Board and Shareholder resolutions executed and filed in countries.
  • Maintain legal entity records and documentation on the ContractWorks platform.
  • Assist with the preparation and document processing for KYC (Know Your Customer) compliance packages.
  • Maintain intercompany transfer pricing and loan agreements on ContractWorks.
  • Scan and file documents on the ContractWorks platform.
  • Provide administrative support as requested.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma/GED. Formal paralegal training a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a law firm on in-house legal department
  • Experience with managing a global trademark portfolio

Other Skills And Abilities

  • Notary in the state of Tennessee or willing to become a notary shortly after hire
  • Strong capabilities with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to effectively communicate; excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to change; demonstrates learning agility
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a high performing team
  • Willingness to develop, is self-aware and open to feedback

This position will be hybrid – willingness to commute to our office location a minimum of three (3) days a week and work remotely from a home office the other days.
