Description
Amazon is looking for a talented Corporate Counsel to support the rapidly growing and evolving Alexa voice service, the brain behind our Amazon Echo family of devices and the many other products that enable access to Alexa. You’ll be part of the legal team responsible for counseling the Alexa business on a broad range of commercial, licensing, technology, and regulatory matters and structuring, drafting and negotiating commercial transactions.
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as lead counsel on strategic issues and deals, providing day-to-day input on business and strategy, advising on the launch of new products and features, resolving issues that arise in commercial relationships, and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.
- Provide ongoing legal counseling in a wide range of legal areas, including intellectual property, digital media, privacy, and regulatory compliance, and structuring, drafting, and negotiating complicated technology, distribution, licensing, marketing, and other commercial agreements.
- Develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways
- Build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly.
Some travel will be required.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Experience in transactional and technology licensing or equivalent
- Experience advising on voice technology, AI/ML products, or consumer electronics legal matters
- Background in privacy law and data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, or similar frameworks)
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, and business development
- Experience handling regulatory compliance matters for consumer-facing technology products
- Experience using AI for legal research, contract analysis, or document review.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
