Your impact

At Jacobs, we challenge today and reinvent tomorrow by delivering technology enabled solutions that move our clients and communities forward.

We are seeking a Corporate Counsel, Data Center and EPCM who will serve as the legal leader supporting this operating unit.

The role is responsible for

(i) leading the drafting and negotiation of complex design, design-build, and EPCM contracts with premier data center clients, working closely with a highly skilled team of contracts professionals and in partnership with business stakeholders; and

(ii) providing practical, day-to-day legal and commercial guidance to the business across the project lifecycle, including risk assessment, issue resolution, and strategic decision-making.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to operate effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Ideally this role will be based at the Jacobs office in Greenville, SC but hybrid/remote candidates aligned to any US Jacobs office location will be considered.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Influence pursuit strategy, contract structure, and commercial positioning in complex transactions.
  • Embed legal and commercial judgment into go/no-go decisions and project startup processes.
  • Align delivery models (EPCM, Design-Build, Design for Design-Build, etc.) and commercial models (fixed price, cost reimbursable, hybrid) with execution realities and enterprise risk tolerance.
  • Contribute meaningfully to business strategy discussions beyond purely legal review.

Here's what you'll need

  • Juris Doctor degree and admission to the State Bar, in good standing, in the state in which the applicant resides
  • 10 years of experience as a construction attorney is strongly preferred; however, candidates with a combination of legal experience and a technical background in architecture, engineering, or construction management will be considered
  • Substantial and direct involvement in negotiating Design-Build (as the builder), EPCM, or General Contractor contracts, as well as representing architects and engineers. Prior in-house legal experience is preferred

Ideally you will also have

  • Prior in-house legal experience
  • An undergraduate degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
