Tesla is seeking a talented Sr. Paralegal to join the Legal Team, directly supporting the Intellectual Property (IP) Litigation group. This role requires strong technical acumen, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage a high volume of tasks under tight deadlines. The position involves handling all phases of IP litigation, collaborating with internal teams, and reporting directly to the Sr. Paralegal Manager of the IP Litigation group.
What You'll Do
Demonstrate full understanding of litigation motion practice, discovery, trial, and appellate procedures while administratively managing all phases of IP litigation cases, including e-filing documents in multiple jurisdictions and appellate courts, and maintaining calendars for deadlines, hearings, and filing datesPrioritize and manage multiple assignments under tight deadlines with efficiencyUtilize expertise in relevant technology to enhance teamwork and efficiencies, including eDiscovery software such as Relativity and Logikcull, with familiarity in Case Notebook, Trial Director, and Adobe Professional as an advantageAssist with factual development and analysis of cases by gathering patent documents from USPTO databases, researching technical references, and communicating with business partners to establish case factsSupport trial preparation and attendance for both jury and non-jury trials, including preparation and setup for Markman hearingsMaintain thorough understanding of court rules and filing requirements, including Bluebook citation, cite checking, and proofreading briefsPrepare deposition notices and subpoenas, organize and maintain deposition materials, exhibits, and summaries, and track deposition schedules
What You'll Bring
5+ years of relevant experience managing litigation matters in-house or at a top-tier law firmBachelor's Degree or paralegal certification preferred, or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional abilityUnderstanding of litigation motion practice, discovery, arbitration, trial, and appellate procedures, with knowledge of ITC proceedings as an advantageFamiliarity with patent-related procedures, including reexams, IPRs, and PGRsStrong work ethic with organizational, analytical, fact-finding, and negotiation skills, and flexibility to take on new areas of responsibilityExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to format documents and generate tables of contents and authoritiesDemonstrated ability to manage a high volume of matters, work proactively, take initiative, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and oversee multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced environment
