We are seeking an accomplished Litigation Paralegal to join our team and provide advanced, full-cycle paralegal support to a team of attorneys. This role requires a highly skilled professional with strong litigation experience, sound judgment, and the ability to manage complex assignments with minimal direction. Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Practice Support Services, this role will serve as an integral member of the case team, contributing expertise across all phases of litigation to include investigation, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and trial. The ideal candidate brings exceptional organizational abilities and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to supporting attorneys and clients. After an initial period of training, this position is eligible for a hybrid-remote work schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborates with attorneys, clients, and internal support teams, and assists case team(s) throughout all phases of litigation including trial preparation and trial.
- Reviews and drafts discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, notices and other court pleadings and documents, including summarizing transcripts and medical records.
- Conducts document reviews and prepares document productions.
- Identifies, collects and organizes factual evidence, including deposition and witness outlines, and deposition and trial exhibits.
- Drafts, cite-checks, and proofreads pleadings, motions, correspondence, and supporting documents, and prepares exhibits for the same case.
- Creates organizational systems for case documents.
- Participates in the creation of databases, performs data entry, conducts database searches and generates reports.
- Assumes responsibility for operation of trial support technology.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required
- Ability to provide high-level litigation support to case teams from case inception through resolution.
- Must possess a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills so as to be able to work well with employees at all levels within the organization and maintain all information in the strictest of confidence. Required to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with others.
- Must have ability to read, write and communicate fluent English; ability to compose documents in the appropriate business style using correct grammar and spelling; ability to communicate clearly using proper grammar and diction over the telephone.
- Must possess attention to detail, the ability to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced setting, be proactive in partnering with attorneys and stakeholders, and have strong time management skills.
- Must have the ability to reason and apply common-sense understanding to situations encountered.
- Ability to process routine daily functions while being able to resolve sensitive issues and complex assignments utilizing above-average critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work overtime or travel as needed.
Experience And Education Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree (or higher) or a Paralegal Certification required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Substantial equivalent experience in Product Liability litigation will be considered in lieu of education.
- Legal experience in a capacity other than paralegal may be considered towards qualification for a Paralegal position.
