About the Role
A highly respected boutique defense law firm with a 50-year reputation representing leading hospitals and healthcare organizations is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its growing team. This is a hands-on opportunity where you will independently manage cases from inception through resolution while working closely with experienced senior partners.
The practice focuses on:
- 75% Medical Malpractice Defense
- 25% General Liability Defense (including high-profile sports and entertainment venues)
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a full caseload from intake through settlement, trial, or resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and legal correspondence
- Prepare and argue Motions for Summary Judgment (MSJs)
- Conduct legal research and case strategy analysis
- Review and analyze medical, employment, and related records
- Take and defend depositions, interview witnesses, and attend court hearings
- Communicate directly with clients including hospital administrators and physicians
- Manage deadlines and billing requirements in a fast-paced litigation environment
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active State Bar of California license in good standing
- 2–5 years of litigation experience preferred (up to 9 years considered for strong candidates)
- Prior Insurance Defense experience strongly preferred
- Experience with time billing required
- Strong drafting, deposition, and case management skills
- Must live within commuting distance to Los Angeles office
