The Director of Legal AI & Innovation leads the firm’s strategy to improve client outcomes, efficiency, and profitability through legal technology and AI. This role sits at the intersection of legal practice, technology, and operations, partnering with attorneys, IT, and leadership to design, implement, and optimize innovative solutions.


Where You’ll Work

The Director of Legal AI & Innovation is an exempt position and will work fully remote or hybrid from one of our office locations. Occasional travel may be required.


What You’ll Do

  • Set and execute the firm’s legal technology and AI innovation roadmap
  • Advise leadership on technology investments, risks, and adoption strategies
  • Evaluate, pilot, and implement AI-enabled tools and legal technologies
  • Optimize workflows, systems, and processes to enhance productivity and quality
  • Establish governance, standards, and responsible AI use practices
  • Translate attorney needs into scalable technology solutions
  • Lead cross-functional implementation efforts and vendor partnerships
  • Drive adoption through training, engagement, and change management
  • Measure impact using productivity, adoption, and client service metrics, and continuously refine solutions


What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years’ experience in legal operations, legal technology, or related field
  • Strong understanding of law firm workflows and platforms
  • Practical experience implementing technology or process improvements
  • Experience evaluating or implementing AI strategy in legal and/or professional services environments
  • Performance measurement and continuous improvement skills
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across legal and technical teams
  • Experience with tools like iManage, Microsoft 365, and legal AI platforms (e.g., Harvey)
  • Background in professional services, legal operations, or a JD/CPA strongly preferred
  • Technology deployment and project management experience (PMP or similar certification preferred)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit frequently (up to 6 hours per day)
  • Static sitting position for up to 1 hour at a time
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds (about 30 minutes per day)
