About the Company This high-growth technology company operates at the intersection of AI, financial services, and enterprise software. Its platform helps financial institutions make faster, smarter decisions by automating complex risk, compliance, and onboarding workflows. Trusted by leading institutions, the company leverages proprietary data, advanced automation, and machine learning to reduce fraud, streamline operations, and improve customer outcomes. Backed by a strong leadership team and experiencing rapid growth, the company is building foundational infrastructure for a large and evolving market.

Job Overview The company is seeking its first in-house legal leader to build and scale the legal function from the ground up. Reporting directly to the founders and partnering closely with senior leadership, this role offers broad exposure across commercial, regulatory, corporate, and operational matters. This is an opportunity for a business-minded attorney who enjoys operating in ambiguity, building systems from scratch, and serving as a strategic advisor rather than a traditional gatekeeper. The successful candidate will help shape legal strategy in a highly regulated and rapidly evolving industry while enabling the business to move quickly and responsibly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all commercial contracting, including enterprise customer, vendor, and strategic partner agreements
  • Support complex sales cycles with large enterprise and regulated customers
  • Build scalable contract management processes, policies, and playbooks to support growth
  • Advise on regulatory, compliance, privacy, and governance matters
  • Partner with product and engineering teams on data governance, AI-related issues, and risk management
  • Manage employment, consulting, and advisor agreements
  • Support corporate governance, financing activities, and strategic transactions
  • Oversee outside counsel and drive efficient legal operations

About You

  • JD and active bar membership
  • 5+ years of legal experience, ideally spanning technology, financial services, fintech, or SaaS
  • Strong commercial contracting and negotiation experience
  • Familiarity with regulated business environments, privacy, and compliance frameworks
  • Practical, solutions-oriented judgment and strong business acumen
  • Comfortable building processes and operating independently in a fast-moving environment
  • Prior in-house experience at a high-growth technology or financial services company is ideal
  • Demonstrated ability to balance legal risk with business objectives in a scaling organization
  • Exposure to AI governance, emerging technology regulation, or data privacy
  • Experience supporting financings, board governance, or M&A transactions

About Whistler Partners Matchmakers, Not Headhunters

Whistler Partners is a boutique matchmaking firm focused on counseling the best and the brightest attorneys over the course of their careers. We believe that the right move comes from working closely with talent to curate their long-term career paths. When it comes to career advice, what matters is not the size of the agency but the strength of your individual recruiter. We readily admit that we are elite and only work with the best – after all, a little elitism is okay when it comes to your career.

Employers love us because we are picky about whom we represent, and attorneys love us because we get them their dream jobs.
