Its divisions include OHLA USA Inc., Community Asphalt, Judlau Contracting Inc., and OHLA Building, Inc. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Associate Counsel role based in New York, NY. The Associate Counsel will support the company’s legal needs across its construction and infrastructure projects, working closely with senior legal leadership and project teams. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of contracts, such as construction agreements, subcontracts, NDAs, and professional services agreements. The role will also involve advising on regulatory and compliance matters, assisting with risk management, and helping to resolve project-related claims and disputes in coordination with internal stakeholders and outside counsel. The Associate Counsel will research and interpret applicable laws and regulations, maintain legal documentation and templates, support corporate governance and internal policies, and provide training to project and corporate staff on key legal and compliance topics. Qualifications

  • Strong contract drafting, review, and negotiation abilities, particularly for construction, infrastructure, or large-scale commercial projects.
  • Knowledge of construction law, procurement rules, public works regulations, and related risk management principles.
  • Proficiency in legal research, analysis, and writing, with the ability to present clear, practical guidance to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Experience assisting with claims, disputes, and coordination with outside counsel, including preparation of supporting documentation.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with project teams, executives, and external partners.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; eligibility to practice in New York strongly preferred.
  • Prior in-house or law firm experience in construction, infrastructure, real estate development, or government contracting is highly beneficial.
