What You'll Do
As Legal Director, you will serve as a senior legal expert and trusted advisor within BCG's Legal function, supporting the firm's most complex, high-risk and commercially significant contracting matters across North America. You will provide practical, business-focused legal counsel that enables growth while protecting BCG's interests, reputation and long-term resilience.
You will bring deep expertise in commercial contracting, strong business judgment and the ability to navigate ambiguity with confidence. Operating with significant autonomy, you will advise senior stakeholders on complex legal and commercial issues, help shape contracting practices and standards, and contribute to the continued evolution of how Legal supports the business.
Advise on, structure and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including client services, technology (including AI) development and SaaS, licensing, vendor, subcontractor and confidentiality.
Provide clear, practical legal guidance that balances commercial objectives, legal obligations and risk considerations.
Serve as a senior escalation point for complex contracting questions and challenging negotiations.
Identify legal, commercial, operational and reputational risks and develop pragmatic mitigation strategies.
Apply sound judgment to novel issues involving emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, intellectual property, data and evolving regulatory requirements.
Contribute to the development and refinement of contracting templates, playbooks, guidance materials and negotiation positions.
Identify recurring contracting challenges and recommend scalable solutions that improve consistency and efficiency.
Support initiatives that strengthen contracting processes, risk visibility and operational effectiveness.
Help embed practical risk-management principles into business workflows and decision-making processes.
Partner with Legal colleagues to maintain effective governance and contracting practices aligned with business needs.
Build trusted relationships with stakeholders across client teams, Finance, Procurement, Risk, Compliance, Technology and business leadership.
Translate complex legal concepts into practical guidance that supports informed business decisions.
Influence stakeholders through credibility, thoughtful challenge and sound commercial judgment.
Represent Legal in cross-functional discussions requiring senior contracting expertise and risk assessment.
Anticipate broader business implications of contracting decisions and help stakeholders evaluate trade-offs effectively.
Promote thoughtful and effective use of legal technology and AI-enabled tools to improve legal delivery.
Evaluate AI- and technology-assisted outputs for accuracy, confidentiality, reliability and legal defensibility.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, knowledge management and streamlined workflows.
Contribute to discussions regarding the legal and contracting implications of emerging technologies.
Help colleagues adopt tools and approaches that improve consistency, quality and responsiveness.
Serve as a visible role model for legal judgment, professionalism and client service.
Provide guidance and mentorship to colleagues on contracting strategy, negotiation approaches and risk assessment.
Share expertise across teams and support knowledge-sharing initiatives that strengthen contracting capabilities.
Contribute to training materials, playbooks and communities of practice.
Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and practical problem-solving.

In the US, we have a compensation transparency approach.
Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, retirement contribution, and a market leading benefits package described below.
This is an estimated range, however, specific base salaries within the range depend on various factors such as experience and skill set. It is not common for new BCG employees to be hired at the high-end of the salary range. BCG regularly reviews its ranges to ensure market competitiveness.
In addition to your base salary, your total compensation will include a bonus of up to 20% and a generous retirement contribution that starts at 5% and moves to 10% after 2 years.
