• Data Validation: Verify the accuracy of Uniform Task-Based Management System ( UTBMS ) Fee, Activity, and Expense codes.
• Advanced Adjustments: Make secondary adjustments to previously audited lines when necessary, documenting every change with defensible legal reasoning and mathematical precision.
• Expert-to-Expert Discourse: Serve as a primary point of contact on the Appeals Team, engaging in professional written communication with outside counsel regarding billing adjustments.
• Dispute Resolution: Drive collaborative negotiation with law firms to reach reasonable, mutually agreeable settlements on disputed line items.
• Client Deference: Ensure all resolution strategies strictly align with the client’s ultimate directives and risk tolerances.
• Issue Isolation: Extract core legal concepts and rules of civil procedure underlying complex disputes (e.g., block billing, multi-lawyer attendance).
• Mediation Memorandums: Draft concise, objective written summaries of disputes to support clients at formal resolution conferences.

Qualifications

• Education: Juris Doctor degree
• Experience: Proven experience in legal billing analysis, law firm operations, legal auditing, or insurance defense review.
• Communication: Exceptional written communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to maintain an authoritative yet professional tone under pressure.
