BODi is on a mission to build the Health Esteem Category! Having just launched a new brand (from Beachbody to BODi), a new platform, and a new app where fitness and nutrition is supported by positive mindset content, BODi breaks from the fitness and diet industry and ushers in the era of Health Esteem. Health Esteem specifically rejects the legacy fitness and diet industry playbook of pursuing a healthy lifestyle based on self-criticism – a playbook Beachbody used to abide by. But after observing the uptick in mental health challenges since the pandemic and seeing that 74% of Americans remain overweight or obese today, despite the efforts of the fitness industry, BODi had to make a change.

We are seeking a Group Vice President, Legal & Regulatory Affairs with deep expertise in FDA/FTC regulatory law, nutrition and supplement claims, and product labeling. This role is core to supporting our supplement and nutritional products, while also bringing broader generalist coverage across marketing, litigation management, insurance coverage, and transactional negotiation and contracting across the many business areas of the Company.

The right candidate can step in day one to lead supplement/nutrition compliance, while also providing flexible coverage across constantly changing in-house needs. You’ll partner with marketing, product, R&D, technology, finance, and retail to enable compliant, business-aligned growth and serve as a trusted business partner to the GC and executive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Counsel: Lead on FDA, FTC, DSHEA, state consumer protection, and global frameworks governing supplements, nutrition, and labeling. Provide hands-on claims substantiation and labeling review for nutritional and supplement products.
  • Marketing & Advertising: Provide end-to-end legal support for advertising, brand, and influencer campaigns across our streaming fitness platform and supplement lines. Ensure compliance with FTC rules, consumer protection laws, and industry standards while enabling speed of execution.
  • Contracting: Draft, negotiate, and manage a broad range of agreements, including vendor, supplier, technology, operations, partnership, and talent agreements.
  • Litigation Management: Oversee litigation with outside counsel, ensuring business-aligned strategies and efficient resolution.
  • Insurance: Manage corporate insurance programs and claims.
  • Cross-Functional Partner: Collaborate seamlessly with marketing, R&D, operations, technology, and finance.
  • Leadership: Mentor across the legal department, fostering a culture of curiosity, accountability, and solution-orientation.
  • Public Company Bonus: SEC/public company governance or securities reporting is a plus, but not required.

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited U.S. law school; admitted in at least one state.
  • 12+ years’ combined law firm and in-house experience, with significant time advising on supplements/nutrition claims and labeling.
  • Expertise in FDA/FTC regulatory matters, product labeling, supplement/nutrition claims, and advertising review.
  • Proven experience in marketing, contracts, litigation management, and insurance programs.
  • Executive presence and ability to partner directly with senior leadership.
  • Pragmatic, business-savvy, and comfortable thriving in a lean, fast-paced public company environment.
