The National Institute for Civil Discourse (NICD) was founded in May of 2011 in response to the Tucson shooting that resulted in the deaths of six individuals. The organization is dedicated to promoting respectful dialogue and constructive communication in the public sphere. Through research, education, and advocacy, NICD works to foster a more civil and inclusive political culture in the United States.
