The Opportunity

Everyday Health Group is looking for an experienced, business-minded, strategic corporate counsel. This is a generalist role. You will serve as a key member of the legal team and support multiple businesses operated by the company. The candidate should be diligent and proactive, have demonstrated excellent legal and business judgment, be able to interface effectively with business teams, and work independently.

Matters will include drafting and negotiating a high volume of commercial contracts and providing responsible, timely, and top-quality client service. Advanced knowledge of trademark and copyright, advertising, health care regulatory, privacy and data-use issues will be beneficial in this role. We want you to become a company resource for contract related questions and processes and someone the businesses can rely on for expertise and guidance. We invite you to help to develop, implement and continually improve company and team processes and procedures.

This is a full-time position which may sit in the NYC or another one of Everyday Health Group’s offices, or may be remote.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Agreements

• Drafting, negotiating and revising business contracts with customers, vendors and partners
• Advising our businesses about optimal contracting practices and processes
• Reviewing contracts for application to new and changing circumstances

Product Counseling

• Ground-up assistance building media and other business products, ensuring regulatory, IP, data privacy and other legal compliance
• Cross-pollination of best legal and business practices

Data Privacy and Regulatory

• Contribution to companywide data privacy compliance program
• Counseling of business team members on novel data privacy issues as they arise
• Draft and revise cross-platform privacy and other user policies
• Advise businesses consumer protection and healthcare regulatory compliance

Disputes and Litigation

• Manage outside counsel and represent the company in litigation, arbitration and disputes
• Correspond with third parties concerning the company’s IP and other rights

Job Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school
• State bar membership in good standing
• Minimum of 2 years as a practicing attorney in a law firm and/or in-house legal department
• JD from an accredited law school
• Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
• Excellent interpersonal, communications and organizational skills
• Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements
• Strong attention to detail

• 
  Strong business judgment and high ethical standards
• Experience working with or for digital media and/or health care companies is a plus
• CIPP and other professional certifications viewed favorably
