POSITION SUMMARY:
Nestlé USA, a leading food and beverage company, is looking for an experienced Food Law Counsel to support its iconic brands. The position will work as a member of the legal department located in Arlington, Virginia. The ideal candidate is client-service oriented, highly collaborative, and a person who excels at delivering high quality, actionable, and timely legal advice.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a core member of the Food Law practice group, this role will:

  • Advise the business on matters involving a range of food law and advertising issues including:
  • FDA/USDA Compliance (FSMA, facility inspections, enforcement actions, and product recalls)
  • Safety (GRAS and NDIs, Prop 65, pesticide residues, packaging assessments)
  • Product and claim development, including ingredient assessments
  • Regulatory and labeling requirements
  • Competitor challenges including before the NAD and courts
  • Litigation support on false advertising cases and other matters
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Legal department’s functional priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • JD from accredited law school
  • Current membership in the Virginia State Bar or the ability to become Registered In-House Counsel in Virginia
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a corporate legal department or law firm
  • Experience advising clients on FDA/USDA regulatory compliance and enforcement matters
  • Ability to evaluate scientific and safety data and information to support ingredient safety assessments and claims substantiation
