We are currently looking for an Attorney/Corporate Counsel for our Houston, TX office.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
In this role, you will perform in-house counsel regulatory and corporate law duties, including legal research and analysis, contract review and support of various departments as assigned.
The Legal Department expects this candidate to have a strong grasp on the fundamentals of the legal process (issue identification, researching the governing law, investigating the facts and analysis), have the required legal analytical and writing skills, and a clear, logical mind. This is a necessary foundation which, when combined with business acumen, experience, integrity, common sense and good judgment, allows the candidate to provide sound legal advice and to develop effective solutions for the legal issues faced by the company. The successful candidate will have passed/be expected to pass the Texas Bar Exam.
In addition, you will draft various types of legal documents, conduct general corporate legal work and develop a legal strategy to address issues faced by the departments assigned. You will have immediate interaction with clients, including officer level clients.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
*2-4 years’ experience dealing with a wide variety of legal issues
*Licensures in Texas
*Excellent communication, research and writing skills
*Understands the legal process
*JD from an accredited law school with ranking in the top 25% of the class
PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
* Experience with transactional legal work, drafting agreements, handling various types of issues in any of the following: land/right-of-way, Information Technology, general environmental, midstream industry
*Experience writing on a law journal
*Ability to work closely with diverse personalities and departments as part of a team to accomplish company goals
