The International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) is looking for a Paralegal/Contract Specialist to join the team.

Job Summary*

The Paralegal/Contract Specialist is responsible for working with the legal team and across the organization on business-to-business transactions. This role is actively involved in the life cycle of vetting and selecting new vendors, through contract completion and retention. The Paralegal/Contract Specialist will also help the IAPP work with its corporate customers around the world as they seek to enter a business relationship with the company. In addition, the role will involve assisting with record retention, and a variety of other tasks associated with the company’s legal compliance requirements, including assistance with managing insurance records, and producing and managing documents associated with litigation or regulatory inquiry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with activities associated with vetting new vendors through contract signing and renewal
  • Work with internal clients at all levels on contract requirements and business needs. Communicate with vendors and providers regarding contract business terms
  • Ensure the organization's internal contract documents are accurate and well maintained
  • Serve as first point of contact to internal business units to answer contract-related inquiries. Provide guidance and education on the contracting process, the review of legal terms, and management of contractual relationships.
  • Establish and maintain effective cross-departmental relationships
  • Assist the sales and finance teams with completing procurement documentation submitted by IAPP’s business customers
  • Assist with preparing insurance applications and monitoring insurance policies
  • Assist with document production and case management (e.g. scheduling deadlines) associated with regulatory inquiries and/or litigation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes and devise plans to implement these changes.
  • Willingness to develop basic understanding of privacy and security issues associated with technology vendors.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year College and at least two years of legal or paralegal experience, or procurement/record management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
