Legal.io is working with a top fintech company to hire a payments focused regulatory counsel for a 4 month, full time, contract assignment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Advise on the full range of financial services legal, regulatory, and industry requirements applicable to our payments and financial services activities.
  • Work closely with our internal product, business, risk, and compliance teams, as well as with external advisors.
  • Summarize and analyze impact of new applicable rules and regulations, and industry enforcement activity.
  • Identify risk areas and develop systems, policies, and procedures to manage and mitigate them.
  • Provide ideas and insights into how we can work within the law to create amazing product experiences for our customers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have 5+ years of experience working at a law firm or in-house, advising on financial regulatory matters.
  • Must be familiar with state and federal money transmission, payments and Anti Money-Laundering laws and regulations, including the EFTA/Reg E, state money transmission laws, NACHA and credit card network rules, FinCEN regulations, KYC obligations, emerging payment systems, and other regimes.
  • Must have experience handling regulatory and enforcement matters.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior relationships with relevant state and federal regulatory agencies, a plus.
  • Previous experience at a fintech company preferred.

Role Details:

  • Full time, 40 hours per week, 4 month contract
