ROLE SUMMARY

This Digital counsel position will provide enterprise legal support and matrix management for Pfizer healthcare digital/technology initiatives and operations. While primarily focused on U.S. issues, the successful candidate will be able to provide guidance to Global colleagues on principles of good data practices and responsible healthcare technology development and execution. The core function of the job will be to provide advice and counsel to cross functional teams in a matrixed setting and to help establish and implement appropriate processes and procedures for healthcare technology development and operations.

The Digital counsel will be able to provide practical legal advice on quick moving projects in the US and Globally allowing teams to apply appropriate concepts across the enterprise. Duties will also include developing and managing a global legal resource website and other special projects.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage matrixed teams through complex legal issues
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams by providing enterprise level legal advice regarding legal risks and mitigation options for innovative digital healthcare technology proposals and novel data sharing and use issues, including:
  • Anti-kickback statute/Anti-bribery and Corruption
  • Product liability
  • Healthcare Technology Lifecycle management issues
  • Advertising and promotion of healthcare technology
  • Consumer data and protection issues
  • Synthesize advice from other Legal subject matter experts (including country/regional, privacy, regulatory and digital transaction counsel) to ensure consistent legal support on relevant issues across the Pfizer portfolio worldwide.
  • Develop and support implementation of relevant policy and guideline updates.
  • Implement updates to various agreement templates, related guidance and other instructional documents, as needed.
  • Provide training to the business and other legal colleagues

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent academic credentials including a qualifying law degree.
  • Admitted to practice law and member in good standing in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 10 years legal experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, or in a law firm focused on healthcare technology and anti-kickback issues, preferably working on pharmaceutical industry matters.
  • Strong interest in, and commitment to, the legal subject matters relevant to this role.
  • Think critically and creatively in fast paced settings to assist teams in appropriate ways to operate.
  • Excellent executive presence and emotional intelligence awareness
  • Excellent research, writing, counselling and communication skills and a client-service orientation.
  • Ability to work independently, as a team member, and across the organization to influence decisions.
  • Ability to manage a busy and diverse workload, and quickly and proactively identify and analyze the most critical legal issues
  • Ability to identify areas that are of lower risk and develop appropriate principled based guidance for clients.
  • Accountability, sound judgment, and the ability to take ownership of an issue and provide concise and timely advice.
  •   Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Significant experience with anti-kickback statute
  • Experience with international Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, privacy laws (GDPR, PIPL) Software Medical Device regulations, experience with FTC issues on data usage and consumer data are a plus
