The Optum Labs legal team currently has an opening for a summer intern at our headquarters in Minnetonka, MN.  The intern will handle a variety of legal projects. primarily focused on researching domestic and international regulations and guidance related to machine learning and artificial intelligence, supporting new digital health products and innovation programs.  The intern will work closely with our attorneys, researchers, and business leads supporting clinical research, medical device, digital health, and innovation programs.  The successful candidate will work in a team-oriented, results-driven group that focuses on issues at the intersection of law, technology, and healthcare. Candidates will also participate in our enterprise-wide summer intern program.  Please note that we do not currently hire full-time positions straight out of law school.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
  • Must be currently enrolled in law school with a minimum of 1 year law school experience by summer 2022
  • Solid academic performance and solid writing, research, analytical and communication skills
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)
  • Candidates must include a resume, cover letter and law school transcript as part of their application
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination, and boosters when applicable, prior to employment to ensure compliance

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in clinical research, science, engineering, mathematics or data analytics, medicine, machine learning, artificial intelligence or nursing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-output, team-oriented, practical environment
  • Periodic travel to corporate headquarters in Minnesota may be required for interns based outside of Minnesota

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $33,280 to $35,500. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $33,280 to $39,900.  Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
