Team Description

Our Legal, Policy, Trust & Privacy teams help keep users and their stuff safe, protect Dropbox, counsel Dropboxers on challenging problems, and are always synced with the Dropbox teams they work with. We deal with novel issues every day while standing up for users and helping the company and product grow.

Role Description

As Dropbox’s Government Affairs Analyst, you will work on the pressing public policy issues most important to Dropbox, Dropboxers, and our users. You will be an integral part of the US Federal, State, and Local Government Affairs team and its work advocating for Dropbox’s priorities with government officials. You will analyze policy issues critical to our business, support the creation and refinement of our strategic policy positions, and work with the public policy and government affairs teams to advance our interests with legislators and regulators across the US. You will represent Dropbox within advocacy coalitions, as well as our industry partners and civil society. You also will serve as the Assistant Treasurer for the DBX PAC, helping to identify giving opportunities and coordinating approvals with the PAC Board. You will also support the operations of the Dropbox DC Studio, coordinating with Dropbox Headquarters on office management needs. 
This role will report to our Senior Director of US Government Affairs and will be based in Washington, DC

Responsibilities

  • Advocate our policy positions in executive, regulatory, and legislative settings
  • Craft Dropbox policy position memos, talking points, and other collateral for internal and external audiences
  • Represent Dropbox at external events related to policy and political issues
  • Partner with industry leaders, trade associations, civil society organizations, think tanks, and other external stakeholders to build support for our policy positions
  • Assist with the administration of the DBX PAC, proposing slates and coordinating approvals with the DBX PAC Board. 
  • Advise cross-functional teams on Dropbox’s policy priorities and coordinate the analysis of pending legislation
  • Support the operations of the Dropbox DC Studio, coordinating with Dropbox Headquarters on office management needs. 

Requirements

  • 1-2 years experience in policy settings, prior policy experience with a technology company, the federal government or a trade association preferred
  • Politically savvy with experience working with government officials, industry partners, or civil society organizations
  • Skilled at analyzing complex policy positions 
  • Results driven, action-oriented self-starter
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate policy and strategy concepts in a concise and persuasive manner, both written and verbally.
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about technology policy
  • Guided by a personal integrity that reflects Dropbox’s core values and commitment to our users’ trust
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a fast paced team environment
