Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

As a legal Intern at Archer, you will find yourself immersed into the most innovative culture that is pushing boundaries and you will work on novel issues in the emerging urban air mobility business, technology, legal and regulatory landscape. What you’ll do: 

Archer’s legal department is looking for interns to assist its Employment, IP, or Commercial attorneys, or a combination thereof. Interns in Archer’s legal department will gain insight into in-house legal work in a fast-paced and emerging industry. In addition to shadowing the above attorneys, interns will work on a variety of projects which include, among other things, the following:  

  • Conducting legal research
  • Interpreting relevant caselaw
  • Preparing documents, reports, and recommendations
  • Organizing, analyzing, and managing certain files and reports
  • Drafting and presenting strategic roadmaps for various initiatives
  • Supporting the assessment of invention disclosures and the patent development process in one or more technology sectors.

What you need:

Archer Legal is looking for law students who have finished their 1L or 2L years and have a strong interest in learning in-house Employment, IP, or Commercial legal work. Applicants must have the following skills: 

  • Ability to learn and adapt within an ambiguous environment
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Strong organization and project management skills 
  • Eager to learn, positive attitude and highly motivated 

Bonus Qualifications:

While prior experience is not required, any of the following skills or experiences will make a candidate truly stand out:  

  • Experience working or interning for the NLRB, EEOC, DOL, or other regulatory agencies.
  • Technical background or education  in engineering, software or aerospace. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of EV, aerospace, or similar technologies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of aerospace materials, SAAS, staffing, and/or service agreements. 

Additional Details: 

  • Program duration will be approximately June - August 2023 
  • Must be able to work a part time schedule (approximately 30 hours per week) at our office location 
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
